World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities around the world. They serve the poor and oppressed as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people.
Sunshine Preschool sponsors two children in Mozambique through the World Vision program. We regularly exchange letters with them, and receiving a new correspondence from Africa is eagerly anticipated by all the students.
We are in the process of preparing photos and correspondence we have received from Hortencilio and Gressi to share with you here. We invite you to return to enjoy them at a later date.
Hortencilio is a beautiful little boy who turned 5 in 2010. We have sponsored him for several years now, and it is a joy to see him growing up. The gifts from our class enabled his family to purchase a bicycle, which has done enormous good in the remote, impoverished village where he lives with his mother.
Mrs. Kinney was thrilled to meet Hortencilio on her mission trip to Mozambique in the summer of 2010. He honored her as a family member, presented gifts of oranges, cassava and sugar cane and sang a good bye song to "Mamma Laura." Everyone at Sunshine has been touched by his generous heart and we look forward to hearing from him again soon.
Sunshine began a sponsorship for Gressi in May 2010. She’s a sweet, shy 3 year old who lives with her Grandmother, whom it is reported rescued the little girl from her parents. Gressi and her grandmother are two of many people in their village who don’t even have shoes. We pray that the World Vision sponsorship program can begin to benefit Gressi’s life the same way it has helped Hortencilio, and we are anxious to hear about her progress.
