Volunteers

We are grateful for all the parents and friends who volunteer their time and energy to our school. Those interested in helping out can call to discuss our volunteer needs, or use the Volunteer Sign Up sheet in the hall.

There are several volunteer opportunities for family members interested in assisting with the school’s needs. Grandparents and other adult relatives are welcome to volunteer, providing they complete the background check when necessary.

Volunteer Task	Description
Classroom Helper	Helpers assist Sunshine staff with daily classroom activities. Classroom helpers are limited to 2 per session. Parents must use the sign-up sheet in the hall outside each classroom.
Field Trips	Field trip supervisors assist Sunshine staff members with safely escorting students on field trips.
Snuggle Packs	Snuggle Pack volunteers clean and replenish snuggle packs when they are returned. This job is generally done on Monday or Tuesday of each week.
Fundraising Committees	There are a variety of fundraising volunteer needs throughout the year. Information on specific opportunities will be provided in the monthly newsletters.

Volunteer Background Check Requirement

To ensure the safety and security of your children, we must comply with the Minnesota state law that requires that anyone who wishes to work directly with children complete a background study form. This includes classroom helpers and field trip chaperones.

The background study is a Minnesota state standard form. It must be turned in to the director several weeks prior to the date you are scheduled to volunteer, as it must be processed by the state.
